Shields Painting

5-Year Limited Workmanship Warranty

This page provides the general terms and exclusions for Shields Painting's limited workmanship warranty on eligible painting work.

Five years of limited workmanship coverage Coverage applies to eligible workmanship-related defects in painting work performed by Shields Painting, subject to the terms, project conditions and exclusions below.

What the Warranty Covers

Unless a written project proposal or agreement states otherwise, Shields Painting provides a five-year limited workmanship warranty on eligible painting work beginning from the date the covered work is completed.

If an eligible workmanship defect is confirmed during the warranty period, Shields Painting will determine the appropriate corrective work for the affected area.

What Is Not Covered

This is a workmanship warranty. It does not cover failures or damage caused by conditions outside the workmanship performed by Shields Painting.

  • Pre-existing coating failure, substrate deterioration, concealed defects or conditions that were not reasonably visible when the work was performed.
  • Moisture intrusion, plumbing or roof leaks, standing water, excessive humidity, mold, mildew, efflorescence or other moisture-related conditions.
  • Structural movement, settlement, cracking, expansion, contraction or movement of the building or substrate.
  • Rust, corrosion, tannin or resin bleed, stains or other conditions originating from the underlying material.
  • Normal wear, fading, chalking, weathering or gradual changes caused by exposure to sunlight and the environment.
  • Damage caused by impact, abrasion, abuse, pets, landscaping, pressure washing, harsh cleaning products, chemicals or work performed by others.
  • Damage caused by storms, flooding, fire, severe weather, natural disasters or other events outside Shields Painting's control.
  • Product or material defects that are covered separately by a manufacturer's warranty.
  • Surfaces, areas or work that were not included in the original painting scope.

Warranty Service

If you believe covered workmanship requires warranty attention, contact Shields Painting and provide the property address, a description of the concern and, when possible, photographs of the affected area.

Shields Painting must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the area and determine whether the condition is covered by this limited workmanship warranty before repairs are performed by another contractor.

Repairs and Color Matching

Warranty service is limited to the affected covered area. Exact color or sheen matching cannot always be guaranteed because existing painted surfaces may change over time due to aging, exposure and normal weathering.

Project-Specific Terms

The written proposal, estimate or contract for a specific project may include additional warranty terms, limitations or exclusions. If project-specific written terms differ from this general page, the signed project-specific terms control.

This limited workmanship warranty does not reduce any rights that cannot legally be limited under applicable law.
