The Shields Painting Difference: Perfection with Every Brush Stroke
Many painting companies in Florida rely on flashy marketing and big promises to try and attract new clients. But when it comes time to work, they fall short of their promises. This is often due to a lack of experience, qualified painters, and a drive to overachieve. At Shields Painting, we do things a little differently than other painting companies in Citrus County. We believe that a professional paint job should be as close to perfect as possible. Our goal is to leave you 100% satisfied, whether we're touching up an old residential paint job or performing a complex commercial project. It might sound simple, but we achieve that goal through honesty, hard work, beautiful results, and reasonable pricing.

Interior Residential Painting
As an interior painting contractor with decades of experience, our expert technicians have developed an interior painting process that maximizes quality and emphasizes customer satisfaction. We understand that interior painting goes beyond aesthetics. It protects your ceilings and walls and helps you sustain a healthier place to live for your family. When only the finest craftsmanship will do inside your home, Shields Painting is here for you.

Whether you bought a new house and want to make it your own or need minor touch-ups but have no time, Shields Painting is ready to tackle the job, no matter how small or large.
Unlike some painting companies, our interior house painters take the time to get the details right, every time. For instance, color is only one aspect of your interior paint job. The paint sheen or finish is just as important. Certain finishes are better for living rooms and bedrooms than in kitchens and bathrooms. We'll help you find the right finish and paint colors for your home, so you don't have to worry about touch-ups or repainting.
Some of our most popular interior house painting services include:
- Ceiling Painting
- Popcorn Ceiling Removal
- Living Room Painting
- Bathroom Painting
- Basement Painting
- Color Consultations

Cabinet Painting
Citrus County cabinet painting deserves its own section on this page because it requires more time, skill, and quality paint than most sections of your home. If your home's cabinets are built into its woodwork, replacing them can be obnoxiously expensive. Compared to the cost of installing new cabinets, painting your kitchen cabinets is much more affordable.
At Shields Painting, we specialize in transforming old cabinets into new, gorgeous features that are just as usable as they are beautiful. Each step of our cabinet painting process is meticulous and thorough. And we'll take care of the entire job, from cleaning, prep, and sanding to priming, painting, and reassembly. This unique service lets you enjoy a brand-new look in your kitchen without having to go into debt by replacing your cabinets.
Whether your cabinets are new, but you want to change their color or you'd like to transition wood cabinets to a painted finish, Shields Painting has the expertise and experience to give you a new look you'll love.
Exterior Residential Painting
Your home - it's a place that not only keeps your belongings safe. It protects your family and loved ones, too. It's one of your largest investments, and like anything else of value, it should be protected. However, Florida weather can take a toll on your home's structure and paint, lowering your home's value and even putting your family at risk.
While it's true that a beautiful exterior affects your house's value, it shouldn't take thousands of remodeling dollars to make a positive change to your home. There's a fine line between reasonable pricing and top-quality painting, and that sweet spot is what Shields Painting aims for. If you want to transform how your friends and neighbors see your home, never underestimate the power of a professional paint job.
Our exterior residential painting services are designed to boost curb appeal, give your home a fresh look, and help it stand up to Florida's unique weather. But we provide more than that. When you hire Shields Painting for your outdoor painting project, you will enjoy peace of mind in knowing that your home is in truly capable hands. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and help bring out the best in your property, whether you need to re-stain your deck or remove old, peeling paint from your siding.

The Premier Commercial Painting Company in Brooksville, FL
When it comes to first impressions, your businesses' appearance plays an important role. Your commercial property's paint job factors into its overall aesthetics. A great-looking, well-maintained paint job can mean the difference between a customer walking in your storefront and passing by. Conversely, an old, worn-out commercial paint job can send the wrong message to prospective customers. The same goes for your businesses' interior paint. Would you want to do business with a company that has peeling paint or unsightly crown molding? At Shield's Painting, our goal is to create a beautiful environment that your customers and employees will love inside and out. During the aftermath of the storm, residents are warned to stay alert for scams, particularly involving repair services, tree removal and water treatment. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the Florida Attorney General’s office at 1-866-966-7226. Additionally, price gouging for essential goods, such as food, gas and ice, is illegal. Residents should report any exorbitant pricing for these items to the same number.
If you encounter any suspicious activity, please report the information to the Florida Attorney General’s office by calling 1-866-966-7226 to report scams.
To help manage flooding from the Withlacoochee River, sandbag stations are open daily at two locations: Ridge Manor Community Center (34240 Cortez Blvd. Ridge Manor, FL 33523) and Spring Lake Methodist Church (4191 Spring Lake Hwy. Brooksville, FL 34601). Residents are advised to follow specific guidelines when filling and stacking sandbags to ensure effective flood protection. The landfill is also waiving fees for storm-related debris disposal until further notice.
The Public Information Center (PIC) remains open for any storm-related inquiries from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and can be reached at 352-754-4083. Due to the hurricane, the Waterways Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for October 14 has been canceled and will now take place on December 9.
The Withlacoochee River Electric Company is actively working to restore power to areas impacted by the storm. David Lambert, general manager, shared the following information, while power has been restored to 107,000 members, additional crews are being dispatched to the hardest-hit areas to restore power for another 30,000 members. Despite flooding and downed power lines, the company expects to have 95% of outages resolved by the end of the day. Residents still without power are encouraged to contact the company at (352) 596-4000.
Sheriff Al Nienhuis provided an update on fuel shortages and shared tips for conserving gas during the current situation. While some gas stations are back up and running, not all have fuel available, and those that do may have limited supplies due to the need to prioritize first responders and areas in greater need. The gas supply is coming from Jacksonville and northern areas, so patience is essential as Hernando County awaits more deliveries. Sheriff Nienhuis urges residents to avoid unnecessary trips if they have enough fuel and don’t need to refuel immediately. For those needing gas, he asks for patience while waiting in line, as the supply chain is still reopening, and restocking stations will take time. He emphasized that the next couple of days could be challenging, and residents are encouraged to be patient and understanding.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – On Tuesday, September 24, Hernando County Director of Emergency Management David DeCarlo held a press conference at the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Center and on Facebook Live regarding Tropical Storm Helene.
With the potential hurricane barreling towards the panhandle and the West Florida coast, the entire county is currently under a hurricane and storm surge watch, DeCarlo noted on Tuesday. Helene is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico later this evening or early tomorrow morning. Once the cyclone enters the gulf, “rapid intensification and moving north is expected,” he said.
The county is anticipating a storm surge between 6 and 10 feet as Helene is predicted to make landfall anywhere between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Thursday. As a result, DeCarlo and company have taken the following precautions:
With Hernando experiencing above-average levels of rainfall for this year up to this point, ground saturation is a concern. This may result in water failing to percolate down through the soil. If the storm surge and rain reach the higher ends of their projections, large volumes of standing water could be present.

There will be a “point of no return” for those weighing whether to stay or evacuate. Once the tropical storm force winds begin to bluster across Hernando, emergency services will stop. So, if residents need rescue on Thursday, they will have to wait out the night. Large-scale power outages are also a distinct possibility.
Further press conferences will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The Emergency Operations Center will be giving periodic updates throughout the duration of this storm on their Facebook page as they receive details from the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center. Information lines are now open to citizens at (352) 754-4083.
“We want people to understand and take this storm seriously,” DeCarlo said. “6 to 10 feet of storm surge is nothing to squawk about […] Please heed our warnings, take the evacuation seriously, find a safe place to refuge.”
With 8 to 12 feet of storm surge predicted for coastal areas of Hernando County, area officials are urging residents to get out now.
Mandatory evacuations in zones A, B and C (areas west of US 19, low-lying areas and manufactured homes) began at 8 a.m. this morning.
In Wednesday evening’s Emergency Operation Center update on Hurricane Helene, Commissioner Brian Hawkins emphasized that the forecast of 8-12 feet of storm surge is “the most significant forecast that we’ve come up against and it could continue to go up.”
“I know you guys have seen me out in the beaches, in the coastal communities during the last couple of storms in the last couple of years, this is not one of those storms. This is going to be significant catastrophic damage because of the water, because of the surge and you need to have a plan and you need to get out now.”

“We’re talking about single-story homes that could be completely covered with water if the predictions are true.”
David DeCarlo, EOC director added, “Twelve feet of storm surge will put water on US 19.”
The public shelter at West Hernando Middle School (14325 Ken Austin Parkway) is open, but space is limited. For those who bring their pets, the Emergency Director urges people to bring all necessary supplies. Citizens are advised to take shelter with family or friends if possible.
The storm is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico this evening, and Hernando County will begin to feel the effects on Thursday morning and into the afternoon. It will most likely make landfall in the Big Bend area on Thursday evening as a category 4.
Hernando County can expect 8-12 feet of storm surge as Helene passes through the Gulf of Mexico along our coastline. The storm surge will begin to come in tomorrow morning or tomorrow afternoon, depending on the size, strength and speed of the storm.
Sandbag locations will be open tomorrow, weather permitting, starting at 8 am. Sandbags are available at various locations around the county, including Linda Pedersen Park, Anderson Snow Park, Ridge Manor Community Center, and Spring Lake Methodist Church.
David Lambert, general manager of Withlacoochee River Electric, said that there are crews in the area from outside the state of Florida now stationed in Hernando County and throughout their five-county service area to respond to this storm. He said that if you are evacuating, make sure to turn off the breakers in your home beforehand. He added safety reminders to stay away from downed power lines and to not run generators inside the home.
