The Shields Painting Difference: Perfection with Every Brush Stroke
Many painting companies in Florida rely on flashy marketing and big promises to try and attract new clients. But when it comes time to work, they fall short of their promises. This is often due to a lack of experience, qualified painters, and a drive to overachieve. At Shields Painting, we do things a little differently than other painting companies in Citrus County. We believe that a professional paint job should be as close to perfect as possible. Our goal is to leave you 100% satisfied, whether we're touching up an old residential paint job or performing a complex commercial project. Unlike some painting companies, our interior house painters take the time to get the details right, every time. For instance, color is only one aspect of your interior paint job. We'll help you find the right finish and paint colors for your home, so you don't have to worry about touch-ups or repainting.

Cabinet Painting
Citrus County cabinet painting deserves its own section on this page because it requires more time, skill, and quality paint than most sections of your home. If your home's cabinets are built into its woodwork, replacing them can be obnoxiously expensive. Compared to the cost of installing new cabinets, painting your kitchen cabinets is much more affordable.
At Shields Painting, we specialize in transforming old cabinets into new, gorgeous features that are just as usable as they are beautiful. Each step of our cabinet painting process is meticulous and thorough. And we'll take care of the entire job, from cleaning, prep, and sanding to priming, painting, and reassembly. This unique service lets you enjoy a brand-new look in your kitchen without having to go into debt by replacing your cabinets.
Whether your cabinets are new, but you want to change their color or you'd like to transition wood cabinets to a painted finish, Shields Painting has the expertise and experience to give you a new look you'll love.
Exterior Residential Painting
Your home - it's a place that not only keeps your belongings safe. It protects your family and loved ones, too. It's one of your largest investments, and like anything else of value, it should be protected. However, Florida weather can take a toll on your home's structure and paint, lowering your home's value and even putting your family at risk.
While it's true that a beautiful exterior affects your house's value, it shouldn't take thousands of remodeling dollars to make a positive change to your home. There's a fine line between reasonable pricing and top-quality painting, and that sweet spot is what Shields Painting aims for. If you want to transform how your friends and neighbors see your home, never underestimate the power of a professional paint job.
Our exterior residential painting services are designed to boost curb appeal, give your home a fresh look, and help it stand up to Florida's unique weather. But we provide more than that. When you hire Shields Painting for your outdoor painting project, you will enjoy peace of mind in knowing that your home is in truly capable hands. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and help bring out the best in your property, whether you need to re-stain your deck or remove old, peeling paint from your siding.

The Premier Commercial Painting Company in Anthony, FL
When it comes to first impressions, your businesses' appearance plays an important role. Your commercial property's paint job factors into its overall aesthetics. A great-looking, well-maintained paint job can mean the difference between a customer walking in your storefront and passing by. Conversely, an old, worn-out commercial paint job can send the wrong message to prospective customers. The same goes for your businesses' interior paint. Would you want to do business with a company that has peeling paint or unsightly crown molding? At Shield's Painting, our goal is to create a beautiful environment that your customers and employees will love inside and out. State Rep. Angie Nixon was the first lawmaker to respond with a solution after seeing our story about a Jacksonville woman without air conditioning for six weeks.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Earlier this month, we told you about Carol Russell. She's a Jacksonville woman who was without air conditioning in her apartment for six weeks.
While doing research on this story, the "Ask Anthony" team discovered the state of Florida requires landlords to provide tenants with heat, but not air conditioning.
We contacted all of our local state lawmakers about this issue.
"To see your story about Miss Carroll, I just knew that I couldn't just sit idly by. I went ahead and drafted legislation in regards to it," Rep. Angie Nixon said.
State Representative Angie Nixon plans to introduce a bill to protect people, like Miss Carol, from the Florida heat. She was the first state lawmaker to respond after seeing our story.
"I want to ensure that wherever folks lay their heads that we're making it mandatory for a/c units to be there," Rep. Nixon added.
In 2021, State Senator Jason Pizzo of Miami filed a bill that would require landlords to provide tenants with a/c, but it never made it out of committee.
"It struck us as sort of a no-brainer to go ahead and require air conditioning," Sen. Jason Pizzo responded.
He believes this time it should at least get a hearing and discussion.
"Anytime that you try to include or add a requirement or mandate onto a statute, to an industry that has a lot of influence in Tallahassee, they're going to be resistant," Sen. Pizzo added.
Recently, advocates have been pushing to protect inmates and staff members at non-air-conditioned Florida prisons. That's gotten the attention of lawmakers, on both sides of the aisle, in Tallahassee.
"Miami, where I live, may have had snow flurries in 1977. But those aren't coming back anytime soon. It's only getting hotter," Sen. Pizzo said.
Rep. Nixon believes her colleagues will get behind this bill after a summer of excessive heat in Florida.
"At the end of the day, people can die from things like heatstroke. We want to avoid that at all costs," Rep. Nixon said.
If you are a renter who has been without air conditioning for an extended period of time, you can contact Rep. Nixon's office.
Both Nixon and Pizzo are encouraging you to contact your state senator and representative and share your thoughts on this issue.

After earning the love and adoration of right-wingers, Oliver Anthony is continuing his “out of the woods” era and bringing his single “Rich Men North of Richmond” to Florida to kickoff the Strawberry Festival’s 2024 concert series.
The songwriter—whose hit single features lyrics that demean obese people on food stamps in its Rogan-esque attempt at social commentary—became an overnight sensation last summer and closes out night one of the Strawberry Festival on Thursday, Feb. 29.
Other artists coming to Plant City for 11 days of concerts include the Black Eyed Peas (March 2), surviving members of ZZ Top (March 4), country bro Riley Green (March 6) and Flo Rida (March 9).
A full lineup of announced Florida Strawberry Festival’s 2024 concert bookings is below.
Tickets for the 2024 Florida Strawberry Festival headline concerts go on sale to the public Thursday, Dec. 7 and must be purchased in addition to admission to the festival, which runs Feb. 29-March 10 in Plant City.
And yes, we’re hoping that Willie Nelson is the to be announced artist that closes it out on March 10.

Krysten Peek sits down with the 6-foot-4 junior point guard at the USA Basketball minicamp as he breaks down what it's like to workout with his dad, recent offers and schools he wants to get to this fall and spring.
KRYSTEN PEEK: I'm Krysten Peek here with Kiyan Anthony. We're at the USA basketball training camp. Kiyan, you know, just coming off the summer, how excited are you to be back in the gym, going up against some of the top players in the country?
KIYAN ANTHONY: I'm super excited, you know, coming off EYBL, having a great EYBL season, and being invited to USA, playing against the best players in the country, I feel like I'm playing really good against them and really holding my own. So I'm excited.
KRYSTEN PEEK: I mean, it's no secret your dad played for Team USA. Now you're here. You're both wearing "USA" across your jersey.
KIYAN ANTHONY: Right.
KRYSTEN PEEK: He talked about it being like a full-circle moment. How much pride do you have being able to put on a Team USA jersey, too?
KIYAN ANTHONY: It really is a full-circle moment because I remember going to London for the Olympics. And now, me being able to have a chance to go overseas, I know he going to be there. So I feel like it's really gonna make history, you know, if I was to play on the team.
But even me being here at the minicamp, it's really a blessing because he was here, like, 20 years ago. So--
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: --yeah, that's crazy.
KRYSTEN PEEK: I mean, you look like you grew. I think, what, now you're 6'4", right, handling the point?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yep.
KRYSTEN PEEK: How have you seen the most improve-- where have you seen the most growth and improvement in your game?
KIYAN ANTHONY: You know, I grow-- I grow a lot. So I don't even feel like I'm all the way grown up yet. So--
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: --me being 6'4", playing the point, like, that's-- and I feel like I'm going against little, smaller guards and stuff like that. So it's really like I'm able to use my body and stuff like that. So it's really fun, like, yeah.
KRYSTEN PEEK: OK, and just being in the gym with your dad, putting the work in-- I saw you--
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yeah.
KRYSTEN PEEK: --were working out with him and Chris Brickley. How-- I mean, that's like a--
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yeah, yeah.
KRYSTEN PEEK: --like a cheat code, right, like, being with some-- does he go hard at you? Like, does he still work hard?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yeah, of course. Like, even when we're working out, if I was to mess up or something like that, he'll get on me, like--
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yes.
KIYAN ANTHONY: --because he know-- he just want me to be great. I don't take it personal or nothing like that. And even, like, when I start playing one-on-one, he'll guard me really, really aggressively and stuff, just so I could feel like with the next level strength is like, because--
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: --you know, he was in the league for, like, 20 years. So--
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: --just so I could feel, like, the forearm and whatever the strength is on the next level so I could be ready.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Who won the last one-on-one battle?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Oh, I know y'all will swing the video of that. I won, so.
KRYSTEN PEEK: You won?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yup.
KRYSTEN PEEK: What was the score?
KIYAN ANTHONY: It was-- game was 5. So the score was 5-4, and I won.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yeah.
KRYSTEN PEEK: And I know you have plenty of time, but how's the whole recruiting process going?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Whole recruiting process is good. I just scheduled two visits to Florida State and Syracuse.
KRYSTEN PEEK: OK.
KIYAN ANTHONY: And after that, I'mma wait until after the season-- maybe Indiana and Michigan. And, yeah, I'm just waiting.
KRYSTEN PEEK: OK.
KIYAN ANTHONY: My options are still all the way open, so.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah. With Florida State, what are you looking forward to in that visit?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Coach Nickelberry, assistant coach, that's my guy. And I'm just looking forward to seeing the campus, seeing the practice, seeing what the coaching staff is like, and just seeing what type of environment it is. If I like it, then, yeah.
KRYSTEN PEEK: With Syracuse, I know-- do you feel like there's pressure or people are expecting you to go there because your dad was such a legacy there at Syracuse?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Well, it's no pressure because I know I'mma just go out there and play my game. But I feel like everybody does think I'mma go to Syracuse. But that's not the case. Like, I'm still keeping my options open.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Right.
KIYAN ANTHONY: And Syracuse is definitely an option. Like, if the time is right, if the place is right, I'll definitely go. But I'm still keeping all my options open.
KRYSTEN PEEK: A couple more questions-- I know the NBA guys were able to see you at Peach Jam. But what were you hoping to show them in growth to your game and what you've added in your bag?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Well, I'm only-- I just turned 16 years old. So I still have a long way to go, and I was playing [? up, ?] [? 17U. ?] So to look over to the sideline and just see 30 NBA scouts and all the college recruiters, to me, like-- and I played really well. So that's--
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: --it was really a blessing, and to talk to them after the game and stuff like that. I was really excited to see, like, what's next.
KRYSTEN PEEK: What do you think of, like, the young NBA talent coming up? I mean, it's you. Obviously, Bronny and Bryce, you played against them last year. You got the Richardson kids, the Boozers.
KIYAN ANTHONY: Right.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Gilbert Arenas is like-- is there something special about this group that's coming up with the sons of NBA players?
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yeah, definitely, with everybody, you know, Gilbert Arenas' kid, Alijah [INAUDIBLE]--
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: --Bonny, Bryce, all of them, Boozers. There's a lot of matchups that's being made this high school season because we play against a lot of them. So it's definitely gonna be a movie when we play against them.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.
KIYAN ANTHONY: And I'm really looking forward to it. So it's a lot of talent within, like, the NBA players' kids and stuff like that.
KRYSTEN PEEK: All right. Well, thank you so much for the time being in the hot seat.
KIYAN ANTHONY: Yeah.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Good luck the rest of the season.
KIYAN ANTHONY: Thank you.

The Anthony Richardson era as Florida's quarterback came to an end Monday afternoon. Richardson declared for the NFL Draft following his redshirt sophomore season, opting to leave the program after his first year as the starter.
In the social media post, Richardson also announced he won't play in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17 against Oregon State. That leaves the Gators with a quarterback void heading into their matchup with the Beavers.

Kitna out:QB Jalen Kitna dismissed by Florida Gators as more details emerge in case
Florida transfer trackerKeep up with the latest Gators to declare for the draft, enter the transfer portal
What is the Florida Gators QB depth chart?
Backup quarterback Jalen Kitna was dismissed from the team last Friday after being arrested on child pornography charges. That would leave third-string quarterback Jack Miller, a transfer from Ohio State, as the likely option, though Miller was demoted from second to third string after missing the first half of the season with a broken thumb.
Richardson started all 12 games for the Gators, leading Florida to a 6-6 record. He opened the season with a splash, passing for 168 yards and rushing for 106 yards and 3 TDs to lead Florida to a 29-26 upset of then-No. 8 Utah to earn SEC offensive player of the week honors.
But Richardson followed with a clunker against Kentucky, completing just 14 of 35 passes and throwing a critical pick six in a 26-16 loss. From there, Richardson remained inconsistent. He passed for 2,549 yards with 17 touchdowns to 9 interceptions, while rushing for 654 yards and 9 more TDs.
However, that included two 400-yard passing games - a career-high 453 yards against Tennessee and an even 400 yards against Vanderbilt - that ended in losses.
In Richardson's final game as a Gator, he completed 9 of 27 passes for 198 yards with 3 TDs and 1 interception in the loss to Florida State. There were a handful of drops as Florida was down four of its top six receivers due to injuries.
“That’s just us not connecting, winning matchups," Richardson said after the game in Tallahassee. "We knew we would get one-on-one matchups in this game. We tried to attack them outside. They played pretty good defense defending most of the passes. It was just us not winning our one-on-ones and that’s what we talked about this week.”
Anthony Richardson's NFL Draft prospects
Opinions are mixed on Richardson's NFL potential, though some scouts and talent evaluators are high on his arm strength and athletic ability. Some have him projected as a first-round pick.
ESPN NFL insider Chris Mortensen weighed in on Richardson's prospects for the draft during the network's Sunday NFL Countdown Show, saying he thinks AR should remain another year in school.
Hometown hero
Richardson was a standout quarterback from Eastside High in Gainesville, recruited by former Gator coach Dan Mullen. As a true freshman, he threw a touchdown pass against Oklahoma in the 2020 Cotton Bowl.
In 2021, Richardson played behind starter Emory Jones, but made a splash by throwing for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushing for 115 yards and another TD in relief of Jones against USF in Tampa. He made his first career start in 2021 against Georgia, but threw three interceptions in the loss to the Bulldogs.
Injuries, including a pulled hamstring, limited Richardson to eight games during the 2021 season. But in 2022, Richardson vowed to make it through the season healthy and answered the bell for all 12 starts.
"That’s been one of my goals this season, staying healthy, staying on the field, helping my team," Richardson said. "So God blessed me to play the whole season, fight through the whole season, so it’s a blessing.”
