The Shields Painting Difference: Perfection with Every Brush Stroke
Many painting companies in Florida rely on flashy marketing and big promises to try and attract new clients. But when it comes time to work, they fall short of their promises. This is often due to a lack of experience, qualified painters, and a drive to overachieve. At Shields Painting, we do things a little differently than other painting companies in Citrus County. We believe that a professional paint job should be as close to perfect as possible. Our goal is to leave you 100% satisfied, whether we're touching up an old residential paint job or performing a complex commercial project. It might sound simple, but we achieve that goal through honesty, hard work, beautiful results, and reasonable pricing.

Unlike some painting companies, our interior house painters take the time to get the details right, every time. For instance, color is only one aspect of your interior paint job. We'll help you find the right finish and paint colors for your home, so you don't have to worry about touch-ups or repainting.

Cabinet Painting
Citrus County cabinet painting deserves its own section on this page because it requires more time, skill, and quality paint than most sections of your home. If your home's cabinets are built into its woodwork, replacing them can be obnoxiously expensive. Compared to the cost of installing new cabinets, painting your kitchen cabinets is much more affordable.
At Shields Painting, we specialize in transforming old cabinets into new, gorgeous features that are just as usable as they are beautiful. Each step of our cabinet painting process is meticulous and thorough. And we'll take care of the entire job, from cleaning, prep, and sanding to priming, painting, and reassembly. This unique service lets you enjoy a brand-new look in your kitchen without having to go into debt by replacing your cabinets.
Whether your cabinets are new, but you want to change their color or you'd like to transition wood cabinets to a painted finish, Shields Painting has the expertise and experience to give you a new look you'll love.

Exterior Residential Painting
Your home - it's a place that not only keeps your belongings safe. It protects your family and loved ones, too. It's one of your largest investments, and like anything else of value, it should be protected. However, Florida weather can take a toll on your home's structure and paint, lowering your home's value and even putting your family at risk.
While it's true that a beautiful exterior affects your house's value, it shouldn't take thousands of remodeling dollars to make a positive change to your home. There's a fine line between reasonable pricing and top-quality painting, and that sweet spot is what Shields Painting aims for. If you want to transform how your friends and neighbors see your home, never underestimate the power of a professional paint job.
Our exterior residential painting services are designed to boost curb appeal, give your home a fresh look, and help it stand up to Florida's unique weather. But we provide more than that. When you hire Shields Painting for your outdoor painting project, you will enjoy peace of mind in knowing that your home is in truly capable hands. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and help bring out the best in your property, whether you need to re-stain your deck or remove old, peeling paint from your siding.

The Premier Commercial Painting Company in Fairfield, FL
When it comes to first impressions, your businesses' appearance plays an important role. Your commercial property's paint job factors into its overall aesthetics. A great-looking, well-maintained paint job can mean the difference between a customer walking in your storefront and passing by. Conversely, an old, worn-out commercial paint job can send the wrong message to prospective customers. If you can't take the time to keep up your property's appearance, why would a customer spend their hard-earned money on your products?
The same goes for your businesses' interior paint. Would you want to do business with a company that has peeling paint or unsightly crown molding? At Shield's Painting, our goal is to create a beautiful environment that your customers and employees will love inside and out. When you work with our business painters, you can rest easy knowing we treat your business like it were our own. We always clean up after ourselves and know that operations cannot come to a halt just because we're painting. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Julius Marble, Wade Taylor IV and Tyrese Radford scored 17 points apiece and Texas A&M blew an 11-point halftime lead Wednesday night before the Aggies beat Florida 66-63.
Colin Castleton made two free throws and added a layup 18 seconds later to make it 63-all with 1:06 to play but Taylor answered with a floater with 42 seconds left. Radford drew a charge against Florida's Trey Bonham with 7 seconds to go and then hit 1-of-2 free throws to cap the scoring.
Texas A&M (9-5, 1-0 SEC) has won three in a row following consecutive losses to Memphis and Wofford — the Terriers’ only road win in six tries this season — before a week-long break around Christmas.
Will Richard hit a free throw to give Florida a 1-0 lead before the opening tip. The Aggies were assessed a technical foul for delay of game because they had left the jerseys at the hotel and someone with the team had to go get them.
Bonham hit four 3-pointers and led Florida (7-7, 0-2) with 21 points but committed seven of the Gators' 20 turnovers. Castleton added 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting and four blocks.
Marble converted a three-point play to spark a 9-0 run capped by his dunk that made it 48-39 with 12:54 remaining but the Aggies missed seven consecutive field-goal attempts over the next five-plus minutes. Florida responded with a 15-5 spurt that gave the Gators their first lead since 4-2 when Richard hit a 3-pointer and Castleton followed 30 seconds later with a three-point play that made it 54-53 with 5:49 left.
The Gators have lost three consecutive games and four of their last five.
Castleton was hit with a technical after he threw down a dunk and, 32 seconds later Bonham hit a 3-pointer, for a comment directed at the Texas A&M bench. Taylor made the ensuing two free throws and his 3-pointer with nearly-five minutes left in the first half capped an 8-0 spurt that gave the Aggies an 11-point lead — their largest of the game.
Marble hit a jumper to give Texas A&M a 34-23 halftime lead.

Former Michigan football captain Erick All of Fairfield has 3 finalists for his services

A Michigan Wolverine captain at the beginning of the football season, Erick All is now fielding calls for his services with his 3-month-old son in tow. It's been a busy fall for the former Fairfield High School standout who committed to Michigan in the summer of 2018.
He was limited to three early games and had three catches for 36 yards. In addition to the birth of his son, Houston, he opted to have minimally invasive spine surgery in Florida in October. All posted a photo on Instagram and called it "life-changing surgery".
However, the procedure put him out for the year in his senior campaign. Now, after 35 games with 54 catches for 565 yards as a Wolverine, All has entered the transfer portal. A year after catching a touchdown pass from Cade McNamara in the Big Ten Championship, both captains are gone via the portal that will deliver new destinations for some.
Social media rumblings have said Michigan didn't approve of the surgery. Regardless, All posted his thoughts Monday and says it wasn't just about the surgery.
He wrote, "Wolverine nation. Love you guys but it's time for me to move on. I know some of you are wondering why I would leave and the answer to that question is unexpected... Not everything/everyone are what they seem and I learned that from my time here at Michigan. Sometimes you have to let go and do what's best for you and your family. Love you guys. Go Blue."
He told the Enquirer, "I really didn't want to send out a tweet that made the fans mad. I was just letting them know that it had nothing to do with competition there because I definitely had a spot. I know my words and I know how to be treated. I know when I'm treated right and when I'm treated wrong. It was that (the surgery) and other stuff too."
Prior to this season, All had played in 30 games for Michigan. In his junior year (2021) he had 38 catches for 437 yards and touchdowns against Penn State and Iowa. Both came from fellow captain McNamara.
Ironically, McNamara has recently transferred to Iowa, one of All's top three choices to land next. The Wolverines stomped the Hawkeyes 42-3 last year in Indianapolis with McNamara and All connecting in the fourth quarter. The win sent them to the College Football Playoff Semifinal in the Orange Bowl where they lost to Georgia 34-11 with All leading Michigan's receivers catching four balls for 63 yards.
Michigan is back in the CFP Semifinal but All is now considering Notre Dame and Washington along with McNamara's new squad in Iowa.
"He's one of the hardest working kids I've coached," All's Fairfield coach Jason Krause said. "He's a tough kid that loves football, a very loyal kid. As a blocker and a pass-catcher, he's got great skills. He can stretch the field for you. I think he's one of the top tight ends in the country. He'll have no problem finding a place."
Krause Tuesday morning had already had a dozen calls asking about All. At Fairfield, he caught 73 passes for seven touchdowns helping the Indians to three state playoff appearances.
"I'm taking an official this weekend with Cade (McNamara) at Iowa," All said. "I'm trying to decide where I'm going to go to next weekend, Washington or Notre Dame."
No. 13 Florida State aims for 10th win, faces Oklahoma in Cheez-It Bowl

The last time Florida State and Oklahoma met in a bowl game, the stage was much larger.
It's been 22 seasons since the Sooners knocked off the Seminoles 13-2 to win the 2000 national championship.
But when No. 13 Florida State and Oklahoma face off in the Cheez-It Bowl on Thursday in Orlando, Fla., both teams will have plenty of opportunity to make a year-ending statement.
The Seminoles (9-3), back in a bowl after a two-year absence, are looking to finish a season with 10 wins for the first time since 2016.
"It would just mean everything just to this program, the guys, and to everybody that supports us," Florida State defensive tackle Dennis Briggs said of the possibility of winning 10 games.
The Seminoles won just eight games combined in Mike Norvell's first two seasons as head coach before turning things around this season. Florida State won its last five games of the regular season.
The Sooners (6-6) are looking to avoid finishing below .500 for the first time since 1998, the year before Bob Stoops took over as head coach and brought aboard Brent Venables as co-defensive coordinator.
Now, Venables is Oklahoma's head coach, wrapping up his first season.
It hasn't always gone smoothly, with the Sooners going just 3-6 in Big 12 play and dropping three of their final four games, with the lone win coming against Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma has been hit hard by players opting out for the NFL draft, including both of its starting offensive tackles -- Wanya Morris and Anton Harrison -- plus running back Eric Gray and defensive tackle Jalen Redmond.
Running back Jovantae Barnes is one of the players who figures to see his role expand significantly in the bowl game after playing behind Gray much of the season. He has run for 411 yards and four touchdowns.
"It's a new step," Barnes said. "I have a bigger role for this game. ... All season I've been building my confidence to getting this role.
"I feel like I'm ready, and the running back group is ready."
For Sooners quarterback Dillon Gabriel, the game is a return to a familiar place.
Gabriel played for UCF in Orlando from 2019-21 before transferring to Oklahoma.
While the Sooners have had plenty of roster turnover since the end of the regular season, Florida State comes into the bowl largely intact.
That includes quarterback Jordan Travis -- who threw for 2,796 yards and 22 touchdowns with just four interceptions -- running back Trey Benson and edge rusher Jared Verse, among others.
"Everybody's super focused, locked in, but you also have that sense that everybody's enjoying practice at the same time," Briggs said. "Everybody's attention to detail is spot-on."
Florida State is in the Cheez-It Bowl for the fourth time. The Seminoles won the inaugural game in 1990 when it was known as the Blockbuster Bowl, and won in 2008 and 2011 when it was known as the Champs Sports Bowl.
Oklahoma lost to Clemson in the 2014 game when it was known as the Russell Athletic Bowl.
The Sooners are in a bowl for the 24th consecutive season, second only to Georgia among active streaks.

Since getting their start in the New York City subways back in 2010, Moon Hooch have been perfecting a sonic style that they like to call “cave music.” Saxophonists Michael Wilbur and Wenzl McGowen lead a rhythmic assault that usually causes people to dance. This is particularly the case with their live shows with touring drummer Cyzon Griffin serving as the anchor with his beats, fills and leads.
Folks in Connecticut will get a chance to experience it when Moon Hooch performs at The Warehouse in Fairfield on Dec. 11.
Indie hip hop artist Jackson Whalan, who hails from the Berkshires, will be kicking the night off at 8 p.m.
I talked with Wilbur and McGowen about collaborating with a legendary astronomer’s grandson, putting traffic cones in their saxophones, planting trees with their fans and a really cool album they’ve been working on.
RD: Back in March, you guys collaborated with astronomer Carl Sagan’s grandson Tonio for the track “One Planet” which has music played to a transcript of Carl in a spoken word format. How did you all get together to create this very unique track and how did you get the audio from the transcript?
MW: The transcript is about the possibility of nuclear war, the threat of nuclear weapons, our responsibility as humans to find peace between one another and to start treating the planet with respect. Tonio Sagan is a producer & MC along with being a good friend of ours and he has access to all of Carl’s speeches, he has the rights to those. He approached us and he’s wanted to make a track with us for a while. Whenever he makes music, he always wants it to be very impactful while having a strong message and he figured there wouldn’t be a better way to use his grandfather’s speech about the planet.
RD: I think it’s great, it’s a really cool track. A month before that Moon Hooch released the album 2021: A Hooch Odyssey exclusively on Bandcamp to take advantage of the platform’s “Free Fridays” where they waive commissions and give 100% of sales to the artist. It features some new songs along with some remixes of old tracks, so did each of you handle the remixes separately or did you do them together?
MW: Wenzl had the idea to take songs from our first album and make some remixes, so he kind of started that process. We have a way of working together where we essentially pass the project back and forth, produce it and mix it until it’s ready to be performed. We rehearsed it a bunch in my garage until it was ready to go and then we recorded it.
RD: Has it been more beneficial for you guys to have it on Bandcamp to take advantage of “Free Fridays” versus having it on all the music streaming platforms?
MW: Yeah, we originally first put it out on there but now it’s actually available on all platforms. It definitely helped a lot.
RD: You both play your saxophones in a very interesting way because you put traffic cones inside them, which I find to be very interesting and unique. Who had the idea to add them to your instruments and do the traffic cones provide a deep tone that you normally wouldn’t get with your saxophones or do they serve a different purpose?
WM: The traffic cone makes the saxophone have a lower tone. We initially started using them because we wanted to have some bass but we couldn’t afford a bass sax at the time. I saw some cardboard tubes on the side of the road and I stuck them into my tenor sax, which made that lower sound. Later I ended up losing that cardboard tube so I used a traffic cone to replace it. I went to a plumber to have it cut and yeah, it makes it come through in a lower tone.
RD: You’re very passionate about environmentalism and sustainable living, so how do you maintain this ideal & vision while on tour? Do you have a van that’s either electric or customized in a way that it doesn’t give off carbon emissions?
WM: Well, we’re far from perfect and we’re currently driving a diesel van, but what we’re trying to do is offset our carbon footprint by planting trees. We raise money at every show by raffling off a tree and we use the money that we raise to organize tree planting events around the country. We’ll bring our fans together, go to a farm and plant trees all day.
RD: That’s awesome. Do you guys partner with a non-profit for this? How do you get these tree planting events in motion?
MW: At first, we were funding it entirely ourselves but now we’ve partnered with a non-profit called Team Trees and people can go directly to our website and donate to them. They actually have a few organizations they work with that plant trees and it’s been really exciting to work with them because obviously we’re full-time professional musicians, we’re not full-time professional landscapers. We can only do so many tree planting events a year, so this is a nice way to add to our mission and on top of that we’re also vegan. The whole touring party is vegan and factory farming is actually the leading cause of greenhouse gas emissions by a landslide, so by eliminating meat & dairy from our diets we’re greatly reducing our carbon emissions. Again, it’s not perfect but it’s a step in the right direction.
RD: That’s ultimately what matters, a foot forward rather than a foot backward. What are your plans for next year? Can we expect a new record from Moon Hooch, either a full-length or an EP or do you have other plans in the works?
WM: We’re working right now on a covers album, it’s our first covers album ever and it probably has the most electronic music sound that we’ve ever had. We’ve spent the most time we’ve ever spent on an album with mixing and producing, we really want to put something out that’s on the level of pop music. That’ll be out either in January or February and we’ll also be touring Florida & Texas around that time, there’s other tours in the works including some shows in Europe and stuff like that.
